A great time to buy
So, who actually calls the bottom of the market? Well, that’s easy! The answer is almost certainly those at the forefront of the property market, such as ourselves.
We see activity and trends in real time, as they happen. Journalists and commentators on the other hand only report on these trends as information filters through to them, usually between six and twelve months later.
So what’s the current situation?
Well, based on information we have amassed over the last 17 years (enquiries, viewings, sales and prices to name but a few), it appears there is a significant upturn everywhere except with prices. In fact in some cases we see prices as low as they were at the start of the previous decade, and we have recently promoted new-build apartments from developers for less than €100,000 – which is an amazing price offer!
Do we think prices will fall further?
No… they can’t, for reasons addressed elsewhere, but summed-up by the combined effect of the property market slowdown and the crisis of October 2008 which still drags on.
Is now a great time to buy property on the Costa del Sol?
Well yes, but only for the right person, under the right circumstances – when the property is affordable and the price is right, when it is suitable for purpose and when it represents a clear and simple investment that will bring about growth in equity over the years.

Information about Costa del Sol
With over 320 days of sunshine per year; Costa del Sol is known as the Sun Coast. Much of the immeasurable coastline of Costa del Sol, located in this region of Spain; is beautiful beach, indulged by fine white sand and stunning blue waters that can guarantee average annual temperatures of 22ºC. It’s easy to see why the Costa del Sol is one of Europe’s most renowned holiday destinations.
Andalucia has over 800 Km of coastline, most of which is sandy beach – long sweeps of soft, golden sand, or hidden rocky cove. It’s not surprising, then, that “ir a la playa” is the single most popular recreational activity for tourists and residents alike.
Sunbathing on beaches is popular from Easter or mid May until late September – this is when the chiringuitos (beach bars) are open, with sunbeds set out in rows next to their parasols, along with paddle-surfing boards, and water sport facilities in certain zones.
Spectacular beaches like Algarrobo, Guadalmar and Malapesquera, or viewpoints called Europe’s balcony (in Nerja) is worth a trip for own experience.
Nature lovers would also thrive in places with Natural Parks like Sierra de las Nieves og Sierra de Grazalema.
